The Beggar and The King

THE BEGGAR AND THE KING 😍 Asking for bread is not a crime. The beggar and the king by Winthrop Parkhurst begins with a king complaining about the noise of a beggar outside his window. This irritates the king because the beggar has been visiting the castle each day to beg for food. The king tells his servant to torture and kill the beggar, but the servant replies that they have tortured and killed the servant but he continues to return. Then, the king asks to see the beggar in his chamber. Once in his presence, the king demands the servant to bow to him but the beggar refuses. Instead, the beggar demands that the king remove his crown and throw it into the streets. When the king refuses, the beggar tells him that his voice will haunt him and his nights will be full of horrors. The king then orders the beggar to be seized, but as the beggar walks out, none of the king's servants can move. The Gift of Magi

THE GIFT OF MAGI 💝 "Money can't buy happiness" “The Gift of the Magi” by O. Henry was first published in a New York Newspaper back in 1905, but the message of this tale is a timeless classic. The plot centers around the Christmas gift exchange of Jim and Della Young. It is a touching story of a couple wanted who wanted so desperately to get each other a very special gift for Christmas that they each sold the possessions they were most proud of in order to do so. Imagine the look on both of their faces as they returned home to exchange gifts. The Gift of the Magi shows a couple who only had two great possessions but because of the love they held for each other they sold their special items to purchase something that they knew their spouse would hold dear.
